Drivers for Elderly People's Lunch Club - Great Baddow
Can you spare a couple of hours on your Tuesday lunch break? Are you kind, patient, and able to drive? We need cheerful, helpful volunteers with their own car to safely drive (mainly elderly) people to and from a weekly lunch club in Great Baddow, Chelmsford.
The lunches are every Tuesday at St Mary's Church in Great Baddow, from 11.45 to 13.15.
For some of the ladies and gentlemen that attend, this lunch club is the only chance they have to sit and chat with other people. For others, it might be their only home-cooked meal. If you can collect them from their homes, lend a helping hand in getting out of the car, and make sure they get home safely afterwards, then we would be most grateful.
Your mileage is reimbursed, and a DBS check will be done for you, free of charge. A few of the people may have to fit a walking frame in the car. Anyone who you are asked to drive will be a Great Baddow resident.
Skills
Your own car, that is insured, taxed, and road-safe.
Patience, a good sense of humour, and kindness.
The ability to lend a helping hand or supporting arm as they get in and out of the vehicle - no other manual handling or supporting will be asked of you.
You will not be asked to enter anyone's home, share personal information, or drive them anywhere else.
* Accessibility: Drop-offs are outside the Church.
* DBS check required: Done by Chelmsford CVS, free of charge to you.
* Expenses reimbursed: Mileage at 45p per mile.
