Job description:
You will join the team as an Software Engineer to support them in expanding, improving, and maintaining their global portfolio of Aerospace Engine Test Facilities.
The team are responsible for designing and delivering the infrastructure required to test the next generation of gas turbine engines for both Civil and Defence applications. This includes the maintenance and support of the Hydro Mechanical fuel test rigs.
As a Software Engineer you will be responsible for:
In this role you will be responsible for the design and modification of the software required for testing aerospace products in both the Production and Development environment, mainly focused on software which runs on development and production rigs for testing Hydro-mechanical units.
Developing and deploying automated test programs for production test hardware.
Development and rework of application test software.
Validation of test programs by running test rigs and reporting results.
Maintaining software programs in a configuration controlled environment.
Defining test software specifications for integration with test rig system.
Diagnosing faults and problem solving test software and hardware problems relating to fuel test rig control system.
Understanding DSEAR requirements and requirements for testing in ATEX certified zones.
Analyzing operational rig data to understand if there are re-occurring themes and faults, which cause rig downtime, then work with the wider team and rig operators to implement improvements to eradicate re-occurring themes and faults.What we require from the candidate:
Software programming skills - it is essential that this includes LabVIEW and preferably a demonstrated ability in an alternative, text-based programming environment.
Ability to design system level test software based on existing test hardware designs.
Understanding of analogue and digital interface hardware such as that compatible with LabVIEW.
Electronics background desirable.
Hydro-mechanical background beneficial.
Ability to analyse hydro-mechanical circuit diagrams and electronic circuit diagrams for function in current designs.
Experience of working within a project environment.
Experience in preparing and delivering technical reports and documents.
Experience in generating test requirements and undertaking acceptance testing.
Experience of cost-benefit analysis and business case development.
Self-motivated, with good interpersonal, planning and execution skills and a team player.
Ability to analyse hydro-mechanical circuit diagrams and electronic circuit diagrams for function in current designs.
Relevant qualification in software and electronics background - e.g. Degree or HND with appropriate industrial experience.Experience/understanding of any of the following would be advantageous, but not essential:
Understanding of cyber security and the latest toolsets and standards.
Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as JAVA, C++, Python or SQL
Awareness of the latest capabilities and driving the use of standard tools and processes in the systems arena.
Experience in DevOps and Agile work practices.
An appreciation of Systems Engineering approaches.Next steps
