Role description:
Our Intern & Placement programme is designed to give you a hands-on insight into the work we do as a company and help to develop skills and knowledge within your chosen field. Supported by signposted training, the programme is based on Arcadis core values, giving you both technical training and support to help you develop both personally and professionally whilst with us. You will be exposed to real projects and clients and given a range of experiences to immerse yourself into over the course of your 1012-week internship or 12 month placement.
Role accountabilities:
Our civil engineering community works across a range of sectors including highways, rail, energy and water management. Our work varies and covers projects of all scales across the sectors;
1. A highways engineer contributes to the design and development of safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation systems, and is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the overall quality of our road infrastructure.
2. A water management engineer works on a wide variety of waste and clean water infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets to deliver sustainable solutions. Ensuring resilience and quality of water supplies to our communities through innovative technologically advanced and natural solutions alike.
3. A rail engineer works on all aspects of Civil Engineering, from earthworks to drainage and across all types of structures. They use materials from timber, steelwork, reinforced concrete to wood to support the Railway and provide the most viable and efficient solutions for our customers.
4. An energy engineer works on supporting our clients in delivery of new connections and grid upgrades to help the UK Electricity Industry meet its Net Zero carbon reduction ambitions.
No matter the sector, our programme is an opportunity for you to grow your skills and ability in the delivery of sustainable solutions. The work will potentially involve some site work visits and inspections.
Accepted degrees:
5. Roles within Highways, Water and Energy are open to candidates with either a BEng or MEng in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering.
6. Roles within Rail require an MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Qualifications & Experience:
7. You will be working towards a degree in a relevant subject (Placement & Intern only)
8. You will demonstrate typical Arcadian skills including Resilience, Creativity, Analytical Thinking and being a Team Player
9. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to use your technical knowledge to influence and consult stakeholders.
10. Willing to travel and stay away from homewhen required (where possible we embrace virtual working)
