Job Overview
A Senior Hydrogeologist is required for the water supply side of the business. The work will focus on groundwater sources, asset life, well/bore asset condition & performance concerns, 'raw' water quality concerns, and essentially endeavouring to ensure best continuous (optimised) well outputs and 'raw' water quality. It additionally requires an appreciation of water resources planning and the typical environmental regulatory concerns and constraints regarding groundwater abstraction.
* The role has both a site specific operations aspect (best well/bore operation and output), as well as a wider 'bigger picture' asset life and water resources context.
* The role will involve assessing well/bore 'asset health and operational outputs', and acting as the subject matter expert and advocate regarding individual well/bore issues. This will involve some site work and assisting operations on site, and/or advising on best seasonal operation of wells/bores for maintaining security of supply.
* The role will also involve a water resource's planning or strategic context. Working with the wider assets teams and water resources planning teams, within the context of area plans and water resource zone plans. Endeavouring to ensure that best well/bore outputs can be both physically achieved on site (for operations), but to also endeavour to ensure that source deployable outputs are best represented within groundwater models generally and within the associated water resources planning and supply-demand assessments.
* An ability to appreciate general water resources planning and consider longer term water supply source options and needs is advantageous.
About You
* Experience or proficiency with groundwater modelling software including the use of Modflow, and using FloPy/Model_Muse would be a very distinct advantage.
* 5+ years’ experience, of which a minimum of 3 years should be within a Water Company and/or within Water Supply related work. Greater experience must be demonstrated where a relevant MSc is absent.
* Good planning/project management ability and excellent report writing and presentation skills.
* Experience or proficiency in using general Hydrogeological Software, MS Excel, and Word is also required. As would experience of the use of GIS (such as ArcGIS) and Power BI for the use with data representation, dashboards and reports.
