HEART is looking for a competent, part-time Desk Advisor/Volunteer Coordinator to join our team.
The role of Desk Advisor will see you work with our team for three months at our new Community Infohub at Hastings Town Hall. Full training will be given, enabling you to provide advice and guidance to people seeking help with a range of challenges and make referrals to other agencies where more expert assistance is required.
During this period, you will also be trained as a Volunteer Coordinator, leading on a new programme reaching out to people in Hastings & St. Leonards to decrease health inequalities. In this role, you will mainly be responsible for recruiting and managing the volunteers for the programme, delegating tasks to volunteers, hosting feedback sessions, and arranging training and other support for volunteers to do their tasks well.
Duties & Responsibilities – Desk Advisor
1. Work as part of the team staffing the Community Infohub, providing advice and support to people seeking help.
2. Make referrals to partner organisations where more expert assistance is required.
3. Make appointments for people requesting NHS health checks or Health Coaching.
4. Manage a rota of HEART volunteers to meet and greet visitors.
5. Record data on enquiry numbers, type, and actions on our database.
6. Liaise with partner organisations over issues arising.
7. Recruit volunteer ‘Connectors’ to reach out to people in the community to reduce health inequalities.
8. Oversee processes to arrange DBS checks for volunteers.
9. Liaise with Primary Care Social Prescribers to co-ordinate activities.
10. Track & keep records of volunteer activity.
11. Assist in managing HEART’s live jobs board for delegation of additional volunteer tasks.
Requirements
1. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
2. Competence in computer technology.
3. Good organisational skills.
4. Access to & familiarity with the use of a home personal computer.
5. Familiarity with online meeting software.
Preferred skills
1. Experience in managing databases.
2. Experience in Volunteer Coordination from a previous role.
Hours
The Desk Advisor role will remunerate 2.5 days’ work each week (18hrs), on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. This work will continue for the duration of the Infohub pilot project period of 3 months.
Following the conclusion of the Infohub project, the Volunteer Coordinator will then remunerate 2.5 days’ work each week, on days agreed in advance between the candidate and HEART. This work will continue for a further 9 months.
Term
This role is currently funded for 12 months. If additional funding becomes available, the term may be increased by mutual agreement.
Rate
Remuneration is set at £1175 pcm, to be paid monthly, by invoice, in arrears. You will be responsible for arranging your own tax and national insurance.
