We need motivated security practitioners to work within our newly formed physical security team reporting to the Physical Security Manager. You will play a vital role in safeguarding the security of our essential infrastructure, whilst working alongside a team of experienced professionals in a supportive and inclusive setting. The successful applicant will take on responsibility for all physical security related matters within one of our 4 licence areas, East and West Midlands, South Wales and the South West. The base location for this position will be agreed with the successful applicant, but there will be a requirement to work throughout the whole NGED company area. The job purpose will be to: Implement, maintain and assure physical controls relating to NIS, Cyber and CNI for the license area Liaise with the CTSA, local Police Forces and NPSA on security of the Company distribution network assets and property within the license area. Support Nominated Site Owners within the license area on security matters. Implement emerging legislation impacting on security issues in NGED as directed by the manager. Monitor progress on substation security enhancement programme for Regulatory Reporting. Support the company lead on metal and energy theft matters and operation of SIRs system. Conduct investigations for theft to support the licence area As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Main Responsibilities Provide guidance to the business on implementation of policies, procedures, to protect company assets, employees, and customers. Conduct risk assessments, threat analyses, and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and mitigate risks. Support the implementation of physical security measures, such as access controls, surveillance systems, and alarm systems, to prevent unauthorised access and ensure safety. Work with the manager to coordinate with external security agencies, law enforcement, and regulatory authorities to address security incidents, emergencies, and investigations. Train and educate employees on security protocols, emergency procedures, and crisis management to enhance security awareness and preparedness. Monitor security operations, including patrols, inspections, and incident response, to ensure compliance with policies and standards. Respond to security incidents, breaches, and emergencies in a timely and effective manner, following established protocols and procedures. Manage vendors and support the role of Senior Nominated Person for contracts relating to physical security, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback. Maintain accurate records of security incidents, investigations, and corrective actions taken to address security breaches and violations. Stay updated on security trends, technologies, and best practices to recommend and implement improvements to security programs and systems. The Ideal Candidate Proven experience in security management within a DNO environment, law enforcement, or military roles Strong understanding of security principles, practices, and technologies. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Analytical mind-set with the ability to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Crisis management and problem-solving skills. Integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive security information. Adaptability and flexibility in responding to security incidents and emergencies. Proficiency in security management software, surveillance systems, and Microsoft Office suite. Valid driving licence. Ideally you will possess the relevant certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP, CISSP), however suitable candidates without qualifications should apply where they have demonstrable equivalent experience. A Level 4 qualification in a related discipline is desirable, however a relevant qualification can also be gained by the successful applicant following appointment and as part of a development plan. Evidence of your qualification certificates will be required prior to appointment. As the post you are applying for attracts a National Security Vetting clearance there are further eligibility requirements. To meet national security vetting requirements you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years for Security Clearance (SC) prior to the date of application.
