About the role We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our Group Finance team, supporting the Head of Technical Accounting The role offers lots of variety as accounting standards evolve or new transactions occur (acquisitions, disposals, property transactions, new revenue streams, restructuring, impairment etc). Given the Group-wide focus of the role, you will obtain a good understanding of the Group's global operations, together with exposure to many different finance management teams, so the role can be a great springboard to other roles across Finance. This is a 15-month fixed-term contract covering parental leave, however there's a good chance of a permanent opportunity at the end of the contract We know life looks a little different for each of us. You will be responsible for Providing technical accounting advice to management and finance teams across the Group, getting involved in complex and often high-profile transactions Preparing and reviewing accounting papers supporting the accounting for key transactions, explaining complex issues clearly and concisely Monitoring, analysing and assessing the impact of new accounting standards, amendments and interpretations, including IFRS 18 Continuously improving the Tesco Group Accounting Policies manual Designing and presenting training webcasts on new accounting developments and topical issues Supporting the preparation of and reviewing the Group's annual and interim accounts, making suggestions for disclosure improvements, especially in relation to new accounting standards and FRC thematic reviews. You will need Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) An audit background and experience working in a complex and fast-paced organisation Excellent knowledge of IFRS and its application to real-life situations Strong written and verbal communication skills, with great attention to detail and a talent for explaining complex information clearly and concisely Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability establish positive relationships quickly and the confidence to challenge and question in order to get to the right answer LI-AG1 LI-Hybrid What's in it for you We're all about the little helps.
