Salary: £22,000 – £26,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role:
Supply Desk is excited to offer the opportunity for a passionate and caring individual to join a secondary school in Frieth as a Student Welfare Officer. The Student Welfare Officer will play a key role in supporting the well-being of students, providing pastoral care, and helping to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment where all students can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as a first point of contact for students experiencing personal or emotional difficulties, offering support and guidance.
2. Work closely with the pastoral team, including teachers and leadership, to monitor and improve student well-being.
3. Support students in managing their emotions and behaviour, ensuring they have the resources and tools needed to succeed in school.
4. Provide individual and group support for students facing difficulties, such as bullying, mental health issues, or family problems.
5. Develop and maintain strong relationships with parents and carers to ensure students’ welfare needs are met at home and school.
6. Organise and lead student well-being initiatives, workshops, and awareness campaigns to promote a positive school culture.
7. Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions, reports, and progress updates.
8. Liaise with external agencies and support services as needed, to provide additional resources for students.
Ideal Candidate:
1. Previous experience in a pastoral care or welfare role, preferably within a school or similar educational setting.
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
3. A compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to supporting students.
4. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and the ability to handle sensitive information responsibly.
5. The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. Organisational skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks effectively.
7. A qualification in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, social work, education) would be desirable but not essential.
