If this is you then an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the maternity services leadership team at Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Trust as the Deputy Chief Midwife. This role will involve having the overall operational responsibility for midwifery services working within the Directorate Management team. Accountable to both the Chief Midwife and Clinical Director for Women’s Services, you will provide operational and strategic leadership to maternity services across Evelina London.
Main duties of the job
The Deputy Chief Midwife’s pivotal duty is to provide day to day operational and professional leadership and role modelling to the professional group within the organisation. The post holder will be accountable for the delivery of high quality, cost effective midwifery care within a set budget, and is responsible for meeting key performance indicators and regulatory standards linked to maternity services.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To be accountable for the direct delivery of high quality midwifery care and support the Clinical Director and Chief Midwife in delivering on all other aspects of clinical care.
* To lead the delivery of midwifery practice that is safe and effective and up-to-date.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of patients, service users and colleagues by monitoring patient quality and safety, taking any necessary corrective action as appropriate to prevent any deterioration in service standards, or to the safety and welfare of patients and staff.
* Ensure that staff wellbeing is supported and monitored, and is central to the culture of midwifery teams.

Skills and Ability
* Strong organisational ability and well developed resource and staff management skills;
Qualifications
* Registered Midwife
* Masters or Equivalent
* Demonstrate a successful track record of delivering effective maternity services as a senior midwife/manager
