The Opportunity:
We are looking for an open and honest Quality Manager to join the team at the Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction (CEMC) in Steetley, Nottinghamshire. CEMC is at the heart of Laing O'Rourke's commitment to offsite manufacturing, and is the industry leading offsite precast facility, which began production in July 2009, manufacturing a range of products including walls, floors, columns, beams, platforms and bridge components for Laing O'Rourke's and external client's projects throughout the UK. Current projects include Everton's new stadium, Olympia redevelopment, Oxford Humanities and various HS2 packages.

The successful Quality Manager will manage and continually improve the Product Quality Performance across all areas of CEMC, delivering value for clients and the internal business. They will set the frameworks and processes required to ensure CEMC and Client Product Quality requirements are effectively achieved.
This is a leadership role, and a Subject Matter Expert on our products and associated quality requirements, that acts as the Quality conscience of the manufacturing facility, and exists to help set the Quality culture and drive continual improvement in product quality within CEMC
What will the role look like?
* Providing Quality support to the core teams within CEMC and be the main Product Quality contact for all internal and external stakeholders.
* Promoting a Right First Time and Quality Culture within the organisation, understanding key risk areas and opportunities for improvement, and driving improvement action on these key topics.
* Providing guidance and support on Non-Conformance, ensuring adequacy of corrective actions, and suitability of proposed actions to prevent problem re-occurrence in support of continuous improvement. Complete statistical analysis on identified Non-Conformance and provide regular reports to inform on Quality performance. Facilitate learning and improvement through robust problem solving, Root Cause Analysis and Collective Insight Workshops.
* Representing Quality in various meetings, whether internally, with suppliers or with Clients.
* Responsible for developing and monitoring Quality performance through effective and reliable reporting.
* Supporting the development and provision of Inspection and Testing Plans and manufacturing execution documents to ensure suitability prior to commencement of works
* Ensuring progressive assurance and delivery Quality Records
* Supporting the Production teams, providing training and guidance on Quality topics and lessons learned from events
* Undertaking regular Surveillance to oversee the Quality of the works and intervene when works are at risk
* Managing the Quality function, covering Quality Inspectors, Lab personnel and Production Engineers, following the Laing O'Rourke Inclusive Leadership model
What skills & experience are we looking for?
* Excellent knowledge of concrete products and quality standards - alternatively other building materials backgrounds will be considered
* Experience of Quality Management in a complex Manufacturing facility or Construction/Engineering Projects.
* Good understanding of client quality requirements within the construction industry
* Practical experience in the generation and maintenance of key Quality documents such as Inspection and Test Plans, Project Quality Plans, Standard Operating Procedures
* Experience in key Quality tools, such as Root-cause analysis, Problem solving methodologies, corrective/preventive action
