Base pay range
Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, ST5 9HX (hybrid, 3 days onsite per week)
Salary: £40k - £60k per annum depending on experience and qualification level (plus performance bonus scheme)
Schedule: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm
We’re looking to expand our team with the addition of a Front-End Developer. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in shaping the digital experience of our learning management system, which empowers schools, educators, and learners through innovative and accessible learning solutions.
This is a front-end focused position, where you will be responsible for building clean, user-centric, and responsive web applications that help bring our mission to life. You’ll work closely with our design and back-end teams to ensure that the interfaces we create are not only visually appealing but also seamless and intuitive for users.

What You’ll Be Doing:
No two days will look the same in this role, but you can expect a mix of the below accountabilities:
1. Develop and maintain robust, responsive front-end features using Next.js (React).
2. Collaborate with UI/UX designers to advise on wireframes and turn mocks into functional interfaces.
3. Implement authentication and session management flows (e.g., integrating with Ory Kratos or similar).
4. Work in a monorepo (Turborepo) structure, contributing to shared UI libraries where appropriate.
5. Participate in code reviews, provide feedback, and help maintain best practices and coding standards.
6. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
What we’re looking for:
1. > 2 years of professional experience in React.
2. Demonstrable expertise with Next.js features (SSR, SSG, incremental static regeneration).
3. Familiarity with common front-end tooling (ESLint) and state management solutions (Context API, etc.).
4. Experience integrating REST or GraphQL APIs in front-end apps.
5. Comfortable working with Docker and local development environments.
6. Excellent communication skills and an ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Bonus Points:
1. Experience with monorepos (e.g., Turborepo, Nx).
2. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab, etc.).
3. Familiarity with design systems or CSS-in-JS libraries (e.g., styled-components).
4. Prior experience in EdTech or LMS platforms.
