Evening Shift Leader
General Purpose
To plan, organize and control production to ensure that goods are sorted, produced and packed efficiently, on time, within budget and to standard within a safe and motivated work environment.
SCOPE
Working only on Evening Shift, the Shift Leader provides leadership, guidance and assistance to Team Leaders and staff on a given shift. This will include communicating production requirements to all necessary staff, identifying training needs and opportunities, promoting a safe working environment, and providing feedback on staff performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide support to Team Leaders and staff to develop the skills and capabilities of staff.
2. Proactively promote, observe and implement adherence to health, safety, quality and environmental procedures.
3. Foster a respectful, inclusive continuous improvement culture.
4. Plan a production schedule for the job.
5. Implement and control the production schedule.
6. Review and adjust the schedule where needed.
7. Make adjustments to manpower plan to achieve required packing requirements.
8. Determine the material resources required.
9. Manage human and material resources to meet production targets.
10. Maintain standard operating procedures for production operations.
11. Ensure that standard operating procedures are adhered to.
12. Analyze production and quality control to detect and correct problems.
13. Determine and implement improvements to the production process.
14. Prepare and maintain production reports.
15. Monitor and review staff performance, including lateness and absence.
16. Deal with HR related issues for staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement.
17. Authorize shift payroll.
18. Ensure efficient collaboration and coordination between relevant departments including QHSE, Human Resources, Engineering, Sales, Customer Service, and Finance.
19. Monitor individual performance against target.
20. Monitor daily attendance.
21. Investigate and understand causes for staff absences.
22. Recommend solutions to resolve attendance difficulties.
23. Provide basic counseling to staff who have performance related obstacles.
24. Provide advice and recommendations on disciplinary actions.
25. Perform other related duties as required to get the job done.
Requirements:
* Production management experience.
* Third level qualification in a related field is desirable.
* Understanding and knowledge of technical aspects of the process.
* An understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures around Health & Safety.
* Excellent level of English.
* Proficient in Microsoft Suite is required.
