Our successful Amcare Senior Clinical Specialist is a nurse prescriber with specialist expert knowledge in stoma care and continence, combining clinical expertise with comprehensive product and policy knowledge. You will be commercially minded and working as an integral member of Amcare and across the community, taking joint responsibility for specialist nursing prescription services while establishing and developing a service offering from its foundation. You will provide advice, support, and information to patients using their service.
The role utilises skills in clinical expertise, leadership, education, and management to ensure a seamless service for patients, carers, and staff. The position is designed to evolve into a team leadership position as the service expands.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Establish a comprehensive service offering from the ground
* Be commercially focused and collaborate with commercial teams and market access on presenting and setting up commercial contracts
* Drive performance to achieve financial, quality, budget, service, and commercial targets
* Understand both Amcare and BU commercial objectives related to product usage and services
* Participate actively in the Clinical Governance Team and attend meetings to support CQC registration
* Provide specialist nursing advice, support, and compassionate care to patients
* Prescribe and review prescriptions to ensure safe and effective treatment
* Work collaboratively with the wider stoma and continence nursing teams, sharing expertise and knowledge
* Act as a specialist resource for stoma and continence care and related clinical needs
* Collaborate with the wound clinical team for clinical projects and activities related to Convatec Complete
* Utilise current research/evidence to inform decisions, and incorporate national and local standards into clinical practice
* Establish effective working relationships with healthcare professionals to develop Amcare services
* Build and develop relations with Key Opinion Leaders in the marketplace
* Provide written and verbal advice/teaching to patients and carers, ensure patients understand all available treatment options, products, and services
* Maintain confidential Patient Records in line with company and NHS policies
* Ensure compliance with Data Protection regulations through proper use of patient record systems
* Develop, maintain and execute company SOPs, policies, and procedures
* Participate in educational sessions for staff, healthcare professionals, and end users
* Attend key conferences and events to promote Amcare's profile in the marketplace, as well as internal meetings
* Participate in product trials conducted by Convatec where appropriate
* Drive and assess the effectiveness of service changes
* Prepare to lead, motivate, coach, develop, and performance manage a future team
Skills & Experience:
* Active 1st level registration with NMC
* Non-medical prescriber qualification with the NMC
* Masters level study or equivalent experience
* Teaching/Mentoring qualification or equivalent experience
* Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of professional portfolio and registration revalidation
* Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice, particularly within specialty area with significant relevant clinical experience
* Expert in specific area of practice with experience in advanced practice/protocols, taking accountability for own actions
* Highly effective verbal and written communication skills, with ability to gain credibility and influence clinical changes, as well as understanding commercial outcomes
* Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with flexibility to adapt to a changing service
* Ability to implement and utilise audit data to improve quality and efficiency of patient care
* Experience in teaching, mentoring, and supervising colleagues
* Excellent IT skills with experience in undertaking Quality, Regulatory and Compliance projects
* Ability to cope with sensitive situations while maintaining commitment to high-quality nursing care
* Excellent communication, commercial mindset and relationship-building skills
* Commitment to compassionate patient care
* Ability to work independently while preparing for future team leadership
Working Conditions
* The Position may involve travel up to 40% of the time. Most trips will include overnight travel.
* The position is a hybrid role with an expected office attendance in our Runcorn Office of 2-3 days per week.
