The Role
As a Technical Manager, reporting to the head of the department, your role bridges technology,
regulatory, engineering and business (operational and commercial) matters, making you a vital
link in the organisations success.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership and support:
* Team Management: set relevant KPIs for team members, conduct regular reviews, and
* facilitate skill development.
* Provide direction and support to ensure compliance with relevant legislative specifications
* and standards.
* Resource Management: Monitor team holidays and working hours to ensure adequate
* staffing levels.
Research and Development:
* Coordinate the regular testing of products to address faults and provide evaluations in order
* to improve them.
* Proposing and implementing of new technologies into the company product portfolio and
* processes.
* Research competitors.
General
* Contribute to the production and development of software systems/engineering tools to
* streamline activities of Sales/Projects/Technical departments.
* Technical Bulletins: Prepare technical bulletins for internal and external stakeholders, for
* existing products and new product launch.
* Pre-Sales and After- Sales Support
* ACE Promotion: Promote the ACE (Air Conditioning Excellence) approach within the team.
* Bringing together individuals who function interdependently coordinating activities to
* achieve common goals.
* Act as a key contact with customers who have technical issues.
* Management Reports: Provide monthly management reports.
* Sales Meetings: Participate in strategic meetings, delivering department updates during
* quarterly sales meetings.
Product Knowledge and Compliance:
* Stay Informed: keep abreast of product related issues, industry changes, legislation, and
* health and safety standards.
* Training and Development: Assist in training and developing apprentices within the team
* and business.
Required kills and Competencies:
* Awareness of DX refrigeration and the ability to select the necessary component including
* different compressor types, evaporators, condensers and all interconnecting pipework and
* valves.
* Heat transfer and heat exchange knowledge.
* Good technical aptitude with a relevant technical qualification, e.g minimum HNC or
* equivalent
* The ability to run several projects simultaneously.
* Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
* Team Player: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
* Strong written and numerical abilities.
* Understand engineering principles and apply them to technical challenges.
* Self-motivated with ability to work under pressure and under your own initiative.
* Problem Solving skills, analytical skills, and the ability to make decisions quickly.
* Strong fault-finding skills related to HVAC systems.
* Organisational and team leader skills
* Knowledge of regulatory standards relevant to industry
* The ability to investigate and identify trends.
