We are very proud of our department: the Diabetes and Endocrinology department is the largest in the East of England, and one of the largest in the UK. Our department directorate supports a full range of specialist and general clinical services.
The main Endocrinology & Diabetes dept is based on level 3 in the East Outpatients block. We also have a team working in Rouen Road, Norwich. We work closely with the Clinical Investigation Unit, Medical Outpatients and Eye Screening.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the provision of the highest standards of patient care.
We have three posts available:
1. Role #1 - 37.5 hour full-time position
2. Role #2 - 15 hour position (Mon/Tues)
3. Role #3 - 18.5 hour position (Mon, Tues, Fri)

What we’re looking for:
1. Strong secretarial skills with previous experience essential.
2. Familiarity with medical terminology is a plus.
3. Experience in a clinical setting, such as a hospital or clinic, is ideal.
4. Proficiency in IT and data processing, especially with patient databases like PAS (training provided).
5. Excellent administrative support abilities for other secretaries and administrators.
Key responsibilities:
1. Handle patient inquiries via phone and email.
2. Collaborate with waiting list coordinators and other secretaries to ensure efficient clinic scheduling.
3. Manage diaries and assist in office organisation, maintaining service continuity during absences.
4. Organise and take minutes at meetings.
5. Uphold confidentiality while handling sensitive patient information.
6. Maintain a professional telephone manner and strong interpersonal skills.
Skills required:
1. High level of confidentiality and discretion.
2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
3. Excellent organisational, time management, and multi-tasking abilities.
4. Ability to work autonomously and prioritise effectively.
5. Previous NHS experience and knowledge of the PAS system desirable (training available).
