Job Description:
Our Team
Welcome to the Audi F1 Project. Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026. The new team has three locations: Audi's Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg (Germany), the Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland), and the Sauber Motorsport Technical Center, UK. The Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations.
What you need? The mindset of an athlete. If you are someone for whom giving up isn’t an option and limits are just something to be overcome, you can bring Vorsprung durch Technik to Formula 1 with us. Become part of this unique project and make motorsport history.
Your mission
* Develop the numerical and optimization methods at the core of our simulation tools, such as lap time simulation, DIL simulator, kinematic simulation, and telemetry data analysis.
* Optimize the source code and vehicle model definition for efficient real-time computation.
* Analyze and improve the numerical robustness of the simulation model.
* Collaborate with other departments to design and implement state-of-the-art simulation methodologies.
* Contribute to the development of the vehicle physics model.
* Ensure all source code is tested, documented, and communicated clearly to key stakeholders.
Your profile
* Master's or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field with a strong focus on numerical simulation.
* Proven experience (3+ years) in developing simulation models, ideally within Formula 1 or another high-level motorsport environment.
* Strong coding skills in C/C++. Knowledge of C#, Python, and Matlab are also beneficial.
* Experienced in simulating nonlinear systems, ideally those defined by differential algebraic equations.
* Experienced in developing parallelized and efficient real-time simulation models.
* Good physical understanding of mechanics, vehicle systems/vehicle dynamics, and knowledge of multi-body simulation.
* Highly self-motivated, dedicated, creative, result-oriented, and able to work independently with a very high attention to detail.
* Pragmatic, stress-tolerant, and persevering team player.
