Job overview
We are looking for highly motivated Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioners to join our expanding Trauma and Orthopaedic Scrub Team.
The theatre department provides a 7 day 24 hour service, with the requirement to work weekends, nights and to support all theatre departments within ABUHB.
Newly appointed candidates will undertake a comprehensive training programme supported by our designated theatre Practice Educator., + Successfully complete a locally approved orientation programme.
+ To support a clinical environment that is patient and public focused.
+ To assist in developing an environment which supports the value of nursing care within the theatre directorate.
+ To take responsibility for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of a defined group of patients as appropriate.
+ To liaise and communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team in the planning and delivery of patient care.
+ To be aware of and demonstrate practice based on current advances in nursing.
+ To participate in the formal monitoring of standards.
+ To act as an advocate for patients and their significant others.
+ Responsible for accurate records/standards for documentation, including IT, data collection and input.
+ To manage patients with complex needs and act as a resource for junior staff with these patients.
+ Responsible for the care of children and relatives when in the department.
+ Responsible for signing and agreeing accurate patient care records.
+ Responsible for leading junior/new members of staff.
+ Dealing with aggressive staff, patients and relatives.
+ Conduct personal reviews for junior members of staff.
+ Communicating with external companies/ suppliers on the use of their products.
+ Responsible for the ordering of specialist equipment.
+ Signing of requisitions and communicating the delivery of specialist equipment.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
