Salary: £19,909 pa (FTE would be £39,818)
About the Role
The London Assembly scrutinises the Mayor's activities by questioning the Mayor about their decisions and investigating issues of importance to London. There are 25 Assembly Members, elected every four years at the same time as the Mayor. The Secretariat works for the Assembly to support its activities. The Communications Team supports service to promote the work of the Assembly through press office, social media, publicity, and events.
This is a chance to take on a unique role as a part-time Digital Communications Officer for the City Hall Conservative Members of the London Assembly. You will work as part of the communications team, specialising in digital communications. This role will focus on promoting the work of Assembly Members by producing and editing digital media.
This role is based at City Hall, in the Royal Docks (Kamal Chunchie Way, London, E16 1ZE). Working Pattern: Minimum of two days in the office (City Hall) usually during Tues - Thurs each week with flexibility if agreed with by Line Manager.
What Your Day Will Look Like
* Produce and edit digital media content, including videos and graphics.
* Contribute to, and implement, an online media strategy for the London Assembly Conservative Group Members.
* Provide wide-ranging media support to Assembly Members, the communications team, and wider office as necessary, including contributing to social media outputs.
* Seek and exploit opportunities to raise the profile of Conservative Members online to promote their work and support them in their roles as Assembly Members.
* Assist with the development and production of written communications for Assembly Members as directed by the Lead Communication and Public Engagement Manager and Head of Office.
* Keep up to date with developments in current affairs to provide proactive public affairs support to the London Assembly Conservative Group Members.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria:
* Experience and evidence of producing and editing digital media (including video and graphics).
* Understanding of current affairs, the political context of London government, and the major issues facing the capital.
* Evidence of working successfully in a similar role in a high-profile organisation, or for high-profile people.
* Ability to utilise the latest information and communication technologies and formats for media purposes.
* Experience of using photo & video editing software to produce digital content.
* Demonstrate commitment and understanding of the role of the GLA in promoting equality and working with diverse groups.
