Job Title: Materials Scheduler Location: Redditch, Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum About the Role This pivotal role within the supply chain team ensures the timely procurement and availability of raw materials, ingredients, and packaging supplies required for production. The Materials Scheduler will collaborate closely with suppliers and internal departments to maintain optimal inventory levels, prevent production delays, minimize waste, and uphold a high standard of food safety and quality. A background in the food industry is essential for success in this role, as you will be managing material schedules that align with both customer forecasts and production needs. Key Responsibilities Develop and manage material schedules based on customer forecasts and production requirements. Raise and manage purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials from suppliers. Continuously review and adjust volume requirements based on short- and long-term customer demand. Work closely with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries and quickly address any supply chain disruptions. Monitor inbound deliveries to ensure they are on time and meet required quality standards, taking corrective action as needed. Effectively manage inventory levels, balancing cost-efficiency with production and shelf-life needs. Provide accurate and timely updates on material usage, stock levels, and supplier performance. Work collaboratively with commercial, technical, and operations teams to ensure customer requirements are met. Maintain precise records of inventory, material usage, and supplier performance metrics. Key Performance Indicators Maintaining agreed stock levels in a cost-effective manner, measured by inventory value used and held on a weekly/monthly basis. Availability of materials to meet production requirements, with minimal downtime and strong On-Time In-Full (OTIF) performance. Strict adherence to food safety, product quality, brand integrity, and health and safety standards. Candidate Profile Proven experience in materials scheduling or a similar role within the food industry is essential. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to develop effective relationships with internal teams and suppliers. Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment. Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel. Customer-focused with a commitment to providing excellent service. Analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities. High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment. Flexibility to work weekends or adapt to different shift patterns as required.
