The role & your responsibilities:
The role involves:
1. Installation and commissioning work
2. 1st line reactive maintenance work on our support contracts
3. Working at height
This involves work on a fixed hours basis Monday-Friday 0900-1700 plus a rotational on-call rota that can deliver services to our customers 24/7, 365 days a year. This is a UK role based in Northern Ireland, so there will occasionally be requirements to work away from home, and you will need a full driving licence. Training will be given to carry out your role, and progression opportunities within our team will be fully supported.
You will:
1. Prepare and terminate RF feeder, electrical, fibre optic and copper cables
2. Perform industry standard testing as required on telecoms and antenna systems e.g. BERT (Ethernet), RF sweeps, PIM & OTDR
3. Carry out equipment installation and commissioning across various projects
4. Wire and connect DC power to telecoms equipment to required standards and regulations
5. Provide 1st Line Support and troubleshooting of customer equipment, including but not limited to: mobile network equipment, data-comms equipment, switching equipment, VOIP lines & building management systems
6. Conduct planned preventative maintenance
7. Create RAMS and manage work area/vehicle
8. Complete site surveys to enable installation
9. Understand our customers' needs and work to meet our contractual obligations
What we need from you:
1. Previous work as a junior or field engineer in the telecoms sector
2. Experience with equipment like BERT, RF sweeper & multimeters
3. Use of power tools, hand tools, ladders or any work at height
4. Driving for work or managing a company vehicle
5. Previous electrical or mechanical work
6. A strong set of IT skills, including Microsoft Office products, basic DOS commands, mobile phone work apps, and online time sheets
7. An interest in new equipment & technology and a keenness to learn about it
8. Analytical skills and logical thinking to assist in fault diagnosis and resolution
