Rehabilitation Assistant
Band 3
Job overview
Coastal Lodge is looking for a Rehabilitation Assistant to support us in developing and adapting to best meet the needs of our local population. Having recently built closer working relationships with the CBIC team (Christchurch and Bournemouth Intermediate Care), there is future potential for this post to be rotational between the teams. You will likely undertake the induction through CBIC initially before coming to Coastal Lodge.
Coastal Lodge provides rehabilitation and reablement to enable earlier hospital discharges, support individuals' rehabilitation, and prevent hospital admissions. The caseloads comprise a wide variety of medical conditions and illnesses, including orthopaedic, neurological, respiratory, complexity due to frailty, and older person care.
Professional support and access to the Trust’s clinical supervision, in-service training, and other developmental opportunities are just some of the benefits of working as part of this team. The other benefits involve working in a small friendly team, who work closely with CBIC, District Nurse Teams, ANP/Medical Team, and Bournemouth Hub colleagues.
A passion for working with patients to enable them to achieve their fullest potential is essential. You will need to be an excellent communicator and motivator and enjoy working as part of a team as well as being competent with lone working.
Applications from candidates that require current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.
Main duties of the job
The post will involve treatment of inpatients to enable them to achieve as much strength, confidence, function, and independence as possible following their illness. Our Community Rehab Assistants work with guidance and support from our qualified Therapy and Nursing staff.
This post would suit a motivated individual who enjoys a busy working day, with a varied caseload. Coastal service covers 08:00 - 16:00, five days a week currently but this is being reviewed in line with 7-day working. We are committed to enabling a good work-life balance, so some flexibility may be considered providing the needs of the service can be met.
As a community post, access to a car and driver's license is essential. Environmental home visits for equipment provision is part of this role.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
