Leader Education are recruiting a Secondary SEND Learning Support Assistant to work at a middle school based near Whitley Bay. The successful Secondary SEND Learning Support Assistant will have transferable skills and experience working with children who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), as well as a desire to support children within education, whether it be in small groups or on a 1:1 basis.
Qualifications are desirable but not essential. The school caters for children in key stages 3 & 4 within a mainstream school setting.
The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday starting at 8:30am until 4:00pm and is a long-term position.
The successful candidate will have:
* An enhanced DBS on the update service on the update service or the willingness to obtain one
* Transferable skills and relevant experience from roles in education, care, or support
* An ability to support SEND children efficiently
* The willingness to provide personal care if needed
* A desire to help children who need extra support within the classroom
* The ability to be proactive and enthusiastic to successfully support the children
* A good understanding of Safeguarding in education and the policies and procedures involved
