Job summary The Grange Practice is looking to increase the workforce of the nursing team by employing a dedicated Phlebotomist to reinstate a service that was ceased due to retirement 14 months ago. You would be working as part of our nursing team, which currently is made up of a lead practice nurse, a diabetic nurse specialist, a trainee ACP, a newly qualified practice nurse, two nurse associates and a HCA. We also have a care co-ordinator that does one day a week of phlebotomy and blood pressures. We are currently going through planning for a new surgery at Westwood Cross, with an expected move of sometime in 2026. The Grange Practice is a training practice, therefore, we host trainee GP's; medical students, student nurses and student physician associates. We are also expecting to host out trainees and work experience students in the future and encourage all of the practice team to be involved in this rewarding activity. Main duties of the job We are looking for an experienced Phlebotomist that is capable of doing 5 minute appointments. We are linked to the local hospital utilising the DART system and have a dedicated courier service to collect the samples and transport them to the hospital. We are only able to offer Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday working due to room available as regular hours, but, there may be the option to do additional hours when other members of the nursing team are on leave. Working hours would ideally be 07:45 to 3pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunchbreak (time to be agreed). Clinics would start at 8am and run until 2:45pm. About us The Grange Practice is in a purpose built medical centre which is shared with another practice. Whilst we have only been here since 2006, we have outgrown the space we have and therefore, we are currently going through the processing of getting a new surgery approved by the Integrated Care Board. We have 8 GPS working various days, 2 nurse practitioners, 2 clinical pharmacists, a pharmacy technician, a first contact physiotherapist, a dietician/physician associate, the nursing team already described and various other supporting administrative roles in the practice. We are able to offer the NHS pension scheme to all our staff. There is free parking on the roads around the practice and we provide a uniform and refreshments in addition to a fully funded christmas party and summer BBQ for staff.
