Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Specialised Cancer and Specialised Medicine and Rehabilitation Care Group as a Business Analyst on a permanent basis. Line management for this post will be through Data Analytics Team; however, the postholder will also work closely with Operational and Service managers across all directorates within the Care Group to support the delivery of clinical services.
Main duties of the job
1. To collate, interpret and present large and complex datasets to support the delivery of clinical services.
2. To respond to ad hoc requests for data analysis to support service development and business change.
3. Monthly processing of data relating to income and activity to ensure accurate recharges for activity.
4. To monitor levels of clinical activity and to escalate any unusual variations to the senior management team.
5. To assist with other key business functions of the directorate, providing an information analyst role, including in relation to contract monitoring, reference costing, and data management at local level.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level (or equivalent) with statistical or business related modules, diploma or equivalent professional training/experience
* IT training qualifications and/or substantial, demonstrable relevant experience
* A/AS level Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting or Business Studies or related subject (or equivalent qualification)
Experience
* Advanced knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel, Access
* Basic knowledge of computer programming languages (SQL and Visual Basic)
* Experience of developing, using and maintaining databases
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting
* Understanding of basic principles of data analysis and statistics
* Experience of data analysis work
* Understanding of data protection legislation and its impact on the role day to day
* Experience of using Trust information systems (Lorenzo, etc.)
