Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Highways Maintenance Operative to join our in Area 10 - Strategic Highways account based in Westhoughton, Bolton.
A Highways Maintenance Operative plays an important part in the installation of temporary traffic management. Responsibilities include all aspects of highway maintenance works such as routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civil's works, litter picking, etc. Undertake Winter and emergency call out and standby.
The standard hours of work are 42 hours per week. Shift pattern consists of 4 days on 4 days off.
You will be responsible for:
1. Maintaining high technical standards.
2. Attending project and work briefings as required.
3. Driving/operating vehicles/plant requiring general and specialist skills including vehicle checks and routine maintenance (e.g., oil and water checks).
4. All aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils' works, litter picking, etc.
5. Winter maintenance operations.
6. Emergency call out operations.
7. Taking responsibility for the safety of yourself and others within your team to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.
8. Carrying out vehicle checks prior to shift starting and correctly filling in defect books.
9. Recording of Drivers hours.
10. Allocation and capturing time and resource utilisation in line with operated allocation system.
11. Keeping records, completing all necessary paperwork, and communicating with other employees of Amey, sub-contractors, the emergency services, the police, the general public, clients, and customers.
