This is a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within our maternity and neonatal services.
As Head of Women's Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement, you will provide strategic leadership to drive excellence in governance, learning, and service development across our perinatal pathways. Working closely with our Director of Midwifery, Chief Nurse, senior clinical teams, and external partners, you will lead on embedding a culture of continuous quality improvement, ensuring compliance with national safety standards, and implementing learning from external reviews such as MBRRACE and Ockenden.
This role involves leading and overseeing the perinatal governance framework, ensuring robust risk management, incident investigation, and learning processes. You will drive continuous improvement in maternity and neonatal services, ensuring high standards of safety, effectiveness, and patient experience. You will work collaboratively across our integrated care system, regional networks, and national bodies to share learning and best practice. As an expert in governance, you will provide leadership on regulatory compliance, audit, and quality assurance to ensure services meet and exceed national standards. A key part of your role will be engaging with families, service users, and staff to foster a culture of openness, learning, and compassionate care. You will also support and mentor governance teams to develop their capability in quality improvement and assurance.
We are looking for a highly experienced midwifery or nursing professional with a strong background in clinical governance, patient safety, and quality improvement. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and collaborative leader with experience in perinatal services and a track record of delivering system-wide improvements. You will be a strong communicator who can influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, including frontline teams, senior leaders, and external regulators. Most importantly, you will be passionate about delivering safe, high-quality care, ensuring that every family receives the best possible experience.
