About the role
Reporting to the Build Manager, you will work as part of the team on numerous engineering programmes. Our programmes require a diverse range of engineering skills; therefore, we are interested to hear from applicants who can demonstrate fundamental understanding and experience in the following areas:
1. Complete Vehicle Electrical systems
2. Electrical commissioning
3. Electrical fault diagnostics and practical resolution
4. Electromechanical systems
5. Tier 1 supplier & customer management
All component and system development are to be developed and managed in collaboration with opposing vehicle areas. System integration relating to both mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems will be required.
The role would appeal to someone who works best when following logic and process to devise the appropriate solution, adaptable to client requirements, and is able to work independently whilst communicating with the team.
Responsibilities
1. Ownership of the in-house electrical build and commissioning
2. Experience of vehicle control interfaces and fault diagnostics
3. Awareness of vehicle build processes, servicing, and assembly considerations
4. Electrical commissioning in collaboration with the wider engineering team
5. Creating and managing Bills of Materials in collaboration with the wider team
6. Liaison with suppliers
7. Working and developing design specifications to meet budget requirements in terms of time and costs
8. Managing Customer Relationships
9. Communicating with management and customers effectively at all levels in relation to:
10. Preparing Specifications
11. Design reviews/ Project reviews/ Project delivery
12. Project co-ordination / management
13. Control own work to time and work within budgetary requirements/constraints
14. Manage others as required
15. Plan and estimate work and budgets
Qualifications
Applicants will preferably have a degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline. We will however consider applicants with an HND in mechanical engineering or a related discipline. We will also consider individuals with equivalent experience.
All applicants are required to have:
1. Practical hands-on electrical assembly experience
2. Familiarity with industry standard data acquisition systems (motorsport/automotive)
3. Familiarity with fault diagnostics and resolution
4. Evidence of client-facing experience
5. Ability to prepare specifications and deliver these within budget
6. Experience in drawing office and build procedures
7. Proven skills in detailed analysis from first principles
