About the Role
As a Domiciliary Care Worker, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to individuals within their own homes. Your role will involve assisting clients with daily activities to promote their independence and well-being, while ensuring their dignity, choice, and comfort are respected at all times. This role is pivotal in helping clients maintain their quality of life and remain in the comfort of their own homes.
Responsibilities
Personal Care:
* Assistance with Hygiene: Help clients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure their comfort and well-being.
* Mobility Support: Aid clients with mobility and transferring, using appropriate equipment like hoists, walking aids, and wheelchairs to ensure their safety and independence.
Medication Assistance:
* Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications according to care plans and company policies, ensuring adherence to the correct dosages and schedules.
* Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all medications administered, including dosages and times, and report any issues or concerns to healthcare professionals promptly.
Meal Preparation:
* Dietary Needs: Prepare and serve nutritious meals tailored to clients’ dietary requirements and preferences, ensuring they receive balanced and enjoyable meals.
* Assistance with Eating: Provide support with feeding if clients are unable to eat independently, ensuring their nutritional needs are met.
Household Tasks:
* Cleaning and Tidying: Perform light housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, dusting, laundry, and general tidying to maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients.
* Shopping and Errands: Assist clients with shopping and other errands, ensuring they have access to necessary supplies and services.
Companionship:
* Emotional Support: Offer companionship and emotional support to clients, engaging them in conversation and activities to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.
* Social Activities: Encourage and assist clients in participating in hobbies, social activities, and community events to enhance their quality of life.
Health Monitoring:
* Observation: Monitor clients’ health conditions, including physical and mental well-being, and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals.
* Care Plans: Follow care plans and risk assessments diligently, adapting care as needed to meet clients’ evolving needs.
Documentation and Reporting:
* Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all care provided, activities undertaken, and any incidents or observations.
* Communication: Effectively communicate with the care team, healthcare professionals, and clients’ families to ensure continuity and quality of care.
Compliance and Training:
* Policies and Procedures: Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines, including health and safety regulations, data protection, and confidentiality requirements.
