We are recruiting a Tax Adviser to join our fast-paced and close-knit Tax Team.
This is a great opportunity for an ambitious, qualified tax adviser to join our dynamic tax department. You will play a key role from day one, acting as the main point of contact for your portfolio of clients and support to the Financial Adviser Team. The Tax team sits beside our team of Financial Advisers which gives you a unique opportunity to collaborate and build relationships with colleagues from various teams to deliver a proactive, holistic and bespoke service to our clients.
As a Tax Adviser, you will have responsibility for a portfolio of varied personal tax clients, working on Tax advisory and compliance services. This will involve:
* Delivering excellent client service by establishing and maintaining client relationships.
* Liaising with clients and financial advisers proactively on advisory matters. Meeting deadlines and responding to client needs.
* Creating tax strategies for personal clients and planning their financial futures.
* Providing support to the financial advisory team with Tax planning for mutual clients.
* Preparing and submitting individual returns by Tax filing deadlines.
* Carrying out detailed computations to calculate tax liability and advising on how to minimise a client's liability.
* Preparation of advisory tax planning reports.
* Preparing share pools and supporting reports to advise on clients' capital gains tax positions.
* Estate planning and advising on tax residence and domicile matters.
* Reviewing HMRC correspondence of compliance and advisory nature. Managing HMRC enquiries.
* Delegating tasks and reviewing work from junior team members.
* Attending and leading some internal training sessions.
* Acting as coach and support for junior team members.
* Appraising and providing feedback for junior team members.
* Engaging in personal business development activities and supporting business development.
* Involvement in some departmental administrative tasks.
* Maintaining technical knowledge.
Qualifications
Key Skills and Experience
* Private client tax experience gained within the professional services and/or industry.
* Technically capable tax adviser who is able to assist in complex client work.
* Exemplary organisational and communication skills.
* Appetite to grow business development skills.
Professional Qualifications and Education
* Relevant professional qualifications CTA.
Key Competencies and Experience
* Experience managing your own portfolio of clients.
* Providing clear proactive advice and actively meeting deadlines and responding to clients’ needs.
* Ability to plan workload in order to prioritise to meet conflicting deadlines and cope with pressure. Ability to instruct others, delegate appropriately and control delegated work efficiently.
* Excellent written communication skills and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with clients and financial advisers.
* You’ll be a key person in a close-knit team.
* Willingness to learn with a keen desire to be involved in new challenges and share knowledge and experience.
