Job Title: Site Manager (Engineer Background) – Roads & Sewers, Roadworks, and Groundworks

Salary: £275 - £295 per day

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Manager with a strong engineering background to join a dynamic team on a major housing development project. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and overseeing all site operations, particularly focusing on roads and sewers, roadworks, and general groundworks. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality works while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and contributing to the ongoing success of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee day-to-day site operations on a busy new-build housing project.
* Manage and coordinate all aspects of roads and sewers, roadworks, and general groundworks.
* Ensure the safe, efficient, and quality completion of works, meeting deadlines and specifications.
* Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
* Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
* Provide technical expertise and guidance to site operatives and subcontractors.
* Maintain a detailed site diary, reporting on progress, issues, and any changes.
* Manage site resources, including materials, plant, and equipment, ensuring optimum use and timely delivery.
* Implement and enforce health and safety procedures in line with regulations.
* Assist with the planning and coordination of new phases of works.
* Ensure all work complies with relevant legal and industry standards.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Site Manager with an engineering background, particularly in roads and sewers, roadworks, and groundworks.
* A strong understanding of civil engineering principles and best practices in construction.
* Previous experience in overseeing new-build housing projects is highly desirable.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders effectively.
* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide site teams.
* Ability to resolve issues on-site efficiently and proactively.
* CSCS Card (Black or Gold preferred).
* SMSTS (Site Manager Safety Training Scheme) certification.
* First Aid at Work certification is beneficial.
* Full UK driving license.
