As a Science Technician, you'll work at the heart of our science department, helping to deliver exciting and practical lessons using state-of-the-art facilities. What’s the role? You will be an essential part of the science team, supporting the practical delivery of chemistry, biology, and physics lessons. This is a role that offers variety and excitement, from helping with live demonstrations to maintaining cutting-edge lab equipment and assisting in complex techniques like microbiology, glass blowing, and chemical solutions preparation (training provided). Your day-to-day will involve: Preparing and setting up materials for practical science lessons, including chemistry experiments and microbiological work. Applying specialist technician skills (such as glass blowing or microbiology), ensuring experiments run smoothly. Assisting teachers in delivering interactive lessons by supporting demonstrations and offering technical advice to both staff and students. Maintaining and repairing lab equipment, ensuring it’s always in top condition. Overseeing stock control and computerised record-keeping for lab materials and chemicals. Taking an active role in health and safety, including organising regular equipment checks (PAT testing and maintenance contracts). Joining a network of technicians and taking part in ongoing training and development. What we’re looking for: Qualifications: GCSEs (A- C/9-4) in Maths, English, and Science. Skills: An enthusiasm for science, strong technical ability, and an interest in hands-on, practical work. Knowledge: Familiarity with health and safety procedures, particularly in lab environments.
