Vickerstock are delighted to be recruitment partners with our client where innovation is at the heart of the company on the appointment of Technical Systems and Compliance Lead. Our market-leading client serves a wide range of retailer top-quality beef and lamb.
This is a pivotal role in driving food safety, integrity, and regulatory adherence. The successful candidate will be responsible for the compliance, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the QMS within the primal division.
What your typical day will look like:
1. To ensure the integrity of our products, customers, and brands is always maintained, as suitable to the role and defined in relevant procedures.
2. Review and complete gap analysis against customer Codes of Practice and update procedures in line with customer codes of practice and legislation.
3. Complete an ongoing review to ensure that any adverse trends are investigated and documented.
4. Develop, maintain, and update the company Food Safety plan and Quality Management Systems, such as the quality manuals.
5. Drive standards across the factory in relation to hygiene, GMP, and fabrication.
6. Assist in preparation for and take part in customer visits and audits.
7. Manage any direct reports.
8. Liaise with and continually develop relationships with management, production staff, suppliers, and customers on a regular basis.
9. Be flexible to work weekends and evenings when required either on an ad-hoc or regular basis.
10. Carry out all written and verbal communications with management and customers accurately and professionally at all times.
What you will need to succeed:
1. Educated to degree level in Food Technology/Food Nutrition or related discipline.
2. At least 2 years' experience within the Food Industry.
3. Previous experience of working with customers and particular UK retailers.
4. Strong IT skills and working experience of all the Microsoft applications.
5. Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead with authority while maintaining good relations with colleagues across business functions.
6. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
7. Self-driven and an ability to work on own initiative.
8. Proactive approach to problem-solving.
9. Drive to learn new things and enthusiasm to progress.
Desirable Criteria (it would be great if you have these but don't worry if you don't!):
1. Previous knowledge of Regulations and Customer Codes of Practice.
2. Red Meat knowledge would be advantageous.
3. Experience in management would be advantageous.
