Our client is an independent, professional and comprehensive consultancy providing high quality, traditional Clerks of Works and site inspections services to private and public sector clients, housing associations and the National Health Service.
About the role
Clerks of works, also known as Site Inspectors, Site Supervisors or Building Quality Officers make sure that work is carried out to the client’s standards, specification, correct materials, workmanship, and to schedule, In most cases, the specifications are prepared by architects or engineers employed by the client. The company provides reassurance that works being carried out are in line with the contract documents and best practice. This is achieved through detailed inspections throughout the building process.
About the responsibilities
As Clerks of Works / Building Clerks of Works Inspector, you will:
1. Monitor the progress against the clients programme for an independent view of the contract at any given stage
2. Reviewing drawings to ensure that the schemes are being built as planned and query any discrepancies
3. Witness and record all necessary tests, inspections, commissioning on behalf of the client
4. Clerks of works can either be on site full time or make regular weekly visits to site
5. Impartiality ensure value for money for the client even though it may not be obvious at the time
6. Act as the client’s eyes and ears on site, by anticipating problems in advance to prevent abortive works on site and time wasted
7. Maintain a good relationship with the client and the design team by keeping in regular communication, attending site meetings, and issue weekly reports
8. You will be required to travel to different locations for this role. The areas of work will include the whole of Yorkshire with the occasional schemes further afield in Manchester and Lancashire
About you
To be successful for the role of Clerks of Works / Building Clerks of Works Inspector, you must have / be:
9. A wide understanding of the building industry, including knowledge of materials, trades, methods, and legal requirements
10. Able to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of various forms of construction
11. Excellent IT skills (Word, outlook, PDF) use iPad tablets on site for writing reports and viewing documents/drawings
12. Own car (essential)
13. Member of ICWCI (desirable)
14. Have an up to date CSCS card
15. Willing to complete an enhanced DBS check once successful for the role
About the salary
For the role of Clerks of Works / Building Clerks of Works Inspector is for 30 hours per week over 4 days with no weekend working and there is a salary on offer of £28,860 to up £30,500 depending on experience. Benefits include:
