The Control Centre Systems team based in Hatfield provides bespoke application hardware and data design solutions for major projects in UK and Ireland.
Your future role
You will be taking on a new challenge applying your Project Engineering expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You will report to the Programme Engineering Manager, and work alongside experienced, and supportive teammates.
As a Project Engineer working within Alstom’s Control Centre Systems team, you will be coordinating the integration of design, test and onsite construction activities for the deployment of projects at various customer site locations around the UK. The role has a client-facing dimension working with the Project Management team to manage risks and compliance to achieve the on-time delivery of the project. You will be coordinating with the Engineering Delivery Manager for resourcing needs to support all projects.
You will be required to work with engineering teams for the safe execution of design activities whilst maximizing the efficiencies associated with best use of standard design tools and procedures. You will be interfacing to all forms of internal and external disciplines including Project Management, Engineering, Commercial, Installation and Test.
The role requires a proactive practical approach to resource utilization and your ability to clearly communicate complex issues with all stakeholders is essential.
We’ll look to you for:
· Adhere to Alstom’s Adapt Design and Application Design process governance.
· Engineering Management Plan production and application.
· Project Specification, including Design & Project requirement and traceability.
· Be accountable for Engineering Work Package QCDP (quality, cost, delivery and performance).
· Ensure Engineering deliverables and designs are on-time and within budget.
· Manage the technical contractual scope of the project.
· Be accountable for the customer acceptance of the project solution.
· Manage the project technical risks and the corresponding mitigation plan.
· Ensure, with support of the required experts and involving all stakeholders, that all the technical requirements of the contract are fully addressed throughout the project lifecycle, from the capture stage up to the demonstration.
· Provide and maintain Bill Of Materials through definition to deployment.
· Deploy the applicable engineering process, methods & tools on the project.
· Manage the interface with the project core team.
· Provide all technical documents to the project core team members for the industrialisation, sourcing, installation, test and commissioning.
· Coordinate with other design and verification engineers for the delivery of all system on assigned projects.
· Oversee stage gate reviews for delivery into test in coordination with the Lead Designer/Verifier.
· Support where required improvement initiatives implementing efficiencies.
· Support where required the Tenders and Bid team for new works.

• Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Engineering, Computer Science or scientific subjects.
• Membership / License of the IRSE (Institute of Railway Signalling Engineers).
• Member of the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology).
• Engineering background including project full lifecycle deployment.
• Knowledge of signalling design process, signalling systems, software development process.
• Knowledge of engineering interface with other disciplines, i.e. Signalling, Telecommunications, Construction, Cyber-security, E&P, Operations.
• Knowledge and application of Network Rail Standards.
