Job Overview
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics with a special interest in knee surgery. This is a full-time position with 10 programmed activities spread throughout the week with on-call commitment.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will be part of a dynamic and innovative trauma and orthopaedic team looking to appoint a keen and enthusiastic Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon. The post holder should demonstrate an interest in general trauma surgery, fracture neck of femur, and a special interest in knee surgery. Additionally, the post holder will support the general Lower Limb Arthroplasty workload in the department. The post holder will mainly work across Wythenshawe and North Manchester General but will be expected to work flexibly across multiple sites.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Entry on the specialist register (or entry expected within six months)
* FRCS (Tr&Orth)
* ATLS provider
* Postgraduate thesis
* ATLS Instructor
Clinical Experience
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Trauma & Orthopaedics
* Primary Interest in Hip fracture surgery
* Completed Fellowship post in hip surgery (minimum 6 months)
* Experience of managing NOF service
Management and Administrative Experience
* Understanding of clinical governance network
* Evidence of audit
Teaching Experience
* Ability to teach clinical and operative skills
* Experience of teaching medical students
* Experience of supervising foundation year trainees or equivalent
* Teaching Qualification
Research Experience
* Publications in peer-reviewed journals
* Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical and surgical problems
* Evidence of involvement in research
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
