A fantastic opportunity has presented for an enthusiastic and committed individual to gain specialised skills in a clinical role. We are looking for a motivated pharmacy technician to join our diverse team.
The post holder will be a key part of the wider pharmacy team responsible for working alongside other healthcare professionals, including pharmacists, to manage the provision and supply of medication to patients at Good Hope within University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) NHS Foundation Trust.
You will be responsible for delivering a high standard of clinical care to patients at our hospital through the provision of a safe and effective clinical medicines optimisation service. As part of this role, you will work collaboratively with the clinical pharmacy team to bridge the gap between pharmacy and clinical area(s). You will build key relationships with the multidisciplinary team, acting as a key communication link.
In this role, you will be fully supported to gain the skills and experience required to practice at an advanced level in the hospital setting. As the successful candidate, you will undertake a comprehensive training schedule with the support of several experienced Clinical Pharmacy Technicians.

Main Duties of the Job
With a patient-focused approach, you will:
1. Support the pharmacy department in the provision of complete pharmaceutical care to patients.
2. Deliver a high-quality ward-based medicines optimisation service to a multitude of areas throughout the Trust.
3. Act as a role model and provide training and mentoring to junior staff members.
4. Support the pharmacy satellite unit in cancer services.
5. Carry out accuracy checking commitments.
Key Person Specification Requirements
Essential:
* A nationally recognised pharmacy technician qualification and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Currently practicing as a registered pharmacy technician with post qualification experience within an acute setting.
* A nationally recognised accredited accuracy checking qualification.
* A professional attitude with the ability to motivate self and others.
* The ability to remain calm under pressure.
* A flexible approach and commitment to accommodate the needs of the service.
* A strong attention to detail.
* Experience working as a clinical pharmacy technician or similar capacity is desirable.
This post offers in-service development training and the opportunity to gain valuable skills in a clinical role. A requirement to participate in one evening per week, 1 in 7-12 weekends, and one bank holiday per year on a rotational basis will be necessary.
