Brockenhurst College have an opportunity for a Senior Technician - Marine/Site to join the team on a part-time, annualised hours basis at our Marchwood Site. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £23,014 - £25,280 pro rata.
We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

As our Senior Technician, you will:
2. Support a team of technicians - offering guidance and mentoring when applicable
3. Responsible for maintenance/upkeep of the Marchwood site and liaising with estates team and external contractors to oversee maintenance and servicing of the site’s infrastructure
4. Support the lecturing staff on the delivery of courses to advise students of techniques and demonstrating safe use of tools and equipment
5. Preparing, setting up, clearing away, washing up where applicable and storing equipment and materials for lessons, demonstrations etc.
6. Maintain the workshop areas in a safe and functional state
7. Issuing tools and equipment in a safe condition to students and staff
8. Assisting students where applicable in areas of Marine Engineering/Marine Electrical/Boatbuilding/Composites
9. Assisting staff and students in the use of apparatus and equipment
10. Occasional physical demonstration of machines (wood/engineering machines) to members of staff and students, where this requires the application of acquired skills
11. Construct, maintain, fault find, repair and service all marine equipment where necessary and arrange repair in liaison with the Head of Curriculum
12. Assist in the development of new equipment and workshop activities

20. Notify Personnel of any changes in personal details. For example, a change of name or address, car registration number, telephone number, next of kin/emergency contact details etc.
As our Senior Technician, you’ll ideally have/be:
21. Appropriate qualification in Marine
22. Engineering – Level 3 or equivalent
23. Able to manage learners and learning effectively
24. Working knowledge of the sector either on board a ship or in a shipyard/boatyard
25. Able to develop effective learning resources to support the delivery
26. Knowledge and understanding of current developments in a relevant curriculum area. Knowledge of appropriate health and safety requirements
27. Effective communication skills
28. An effective team player
29. Evidence of working towards and achieving personal targets
30. Good administrative and organisational skills
31. Able to meet tight deadlines
32. Able to manage pressure and a range of demands
33. Supportive and positive approach to all teaching area
34. Energetic and enthusiastic
35. The ability to use Information Learning Technology and other IT applications
