Role:
The Technology Services Group (TSG) are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our High-performance Computing (HPC) team to deploy, manage and support Linux-based systems. You will work closely with the Moodys-RMS Model Development teams who rely on such infrastructure for the creation of next generation Catastrophe Models used by many of the world leading insurers, reinsurers, and brokers. Responsibilities:
1. Deploy, manage, configure and support company-wide Linux and HPC environments.
2. Drive continuous improvement through the adoption of automation and orchestration.
3. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability.
4. Implement and maintain security best practices for Linux systems and HPC clusters.
5. Maintain patching and application updates to maintain system security.
6. Manage and maintain backup and disaster recovery processes.
7. Give expert technical advice and solve complex problems.
8. Interaction across TSG towers and other business areas for problem escalation, resolutions, reporting and coordination.
Experience Required:
1. 3+ years' proven experience managing Red Hat/CentOS systems, including installation, configuration, user/group management.
2. Experience managing large file systems, access controls, auditing, reporting.
3. Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Jenkins.
4. Experience with build automation, PXE-booting, Foreman.
5. Experience with coding; Bash, Shell, Python - and version control systems, Git, Github.
6. Experience with Package Managers; software, module, libraries.
7. Experience investigating complex issues and performing corrective actions, such as DNS, DHCP, SSH-connectivity, SMTP services, HA services etc.
8. Experience working with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira.
9. Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zenoss, LogicMonitor or similar.
10. Knowledge of IBM Spectrum Scale, Spectrum Protect and their services advantageous.
11. Knowledge of container-based workloads (Docker, Kubernetes) advantageous.
12. Any exposure to Public Cloud services, or hybrid connectivity also advantageous.
