SEN Teaching Assistant - Make a Real Difference in Young Lives!
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Salary: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour (Actual salary: £19,370.70 - £21,122.66, depending on experience) ...
Hours: 37 hours per week - Term Time Only
Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs? We're looking for committed SEN Teaching Assistants to work with students aged 11-19 who have a range of complex needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and communication difficulties. Main Responsibilities:
Learning Support:
Work alongside teachers to create an encouraging and inclusive learning environment.
Personalized Support:
Provide focused one-on-one or small group assistance, tailored to meet each student's sensory and communication needs.
Build Trusting Relationships:
Develop positive, supportive relationships to ensure students feel safe, included, and valued.
Promote Positive Behaviour:
Use creative strategies to promote positive behaviour, adapting to the specific needs of each student.
Assist with Personal Care:
Provide personal care when required, maintaining the dignity and respect of each student.
What We're Looking For:
1. Experience working with SEN students (paid or voluntary).
2. A Level 2 or higher qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (preferred but not essential).
3. GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - required.
4. Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
5. A flexible, creative approach to supporting individual learning needs.
