Senior Planner - MRTPI Qualified Leeds Penguin recruitment is delighted to be supporting a planning consultancy in Yorkshire, seeking a Senior Planner with MRTPI qualification and a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience to join their dynamic team in Leeds. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled planning professional to work on a diverse range of projects and engage directly with clients, all within a supportive and collaborative work environment. About the Role: As a Senior Planner, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating planning applications for various development projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use schemes. You will have the opportunity to work on all stages of the planning process and take the lead on key projects. Your role will include: Managing and coordinating planning applications, including preparing and submitting applications, coordinating supporting documents, and addressing local authority queries. Leading pre-application discussions, negotiating with local planning authorities, and engaging with key stakeholders. Preparing planning statements, policy reviews, and supporting reports to justify proposed developments. Supporting and managing planning appeals, including preparing appeal statements and liaising with legal teams. Monitoring and participating in Local Plan processes, ensuring site promotion and representation at Examinations in Public. Providing independent advice to clients on development opportunities and planning strategies. Collaborating with landowners, developers, and housebuilders to unlock development potential. Experience and Skills: To be successful in this role, you should have a background in town planning, ideally within both the public and private sectors, along with the following skills: Relevant planning experience and at least 5 years' post-qualification expertise. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. A proactive, creative, and solution-driven approach to planning consultancy. The ability to engage and negotiate with local authorities, stakeholders, and clients. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in your work. Commercial awareness and a flexible, client-focused approach.
