SERVICE OPERATIONS MANAGER
Location: Goole Salary: £(phone number removed)/annum (negotiable - depends on experience)
About Company Our client is a leading railway infrastructure company dedicated to delivering excellence in rail services and operations. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Service Operations Manager to oversee our facility, manage a team of warehouse supervisors and operatives, and ensure the consistent achievement of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This leadership role comes with a strong focus on operational safety and people-related matters within a bustling warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership: • Deliver production plans in line with operating parameters and costs whilst leading the site based team in support of the design and fitout of a new purpose built warehouse facility. • Ensure effective management and communication of any operational or procedural changes within the facility / operation whilst ensuring all employees focused to deliver against agreed plans and measures with respect to inventory management and logistics. • Promote all change initiatives or improvements in a timely manner to support optimum benefit to organisation and people within the warehouse operation.
Health and Safety Management: • Take ownership of the health and safety agenda, 4 steps, to promote safe working practic-es. Attend and contribute to depot groups and wider company meetings, for example, the Health and Safety Committee, etc. • Advise on the people and system implications, issues and responses to further the de-partments strategies and objectives. • Ensure strong and visible leadership in all aspects of Health and Safety management
Stakeholder Management: • Initial point of contact for customers at site level for operational communication
Inventory Control: • Ensure new warehouse operatives are suitably trained and certified competent within area of responsibility. • Ensure inventories in area of responsibility are accurate and systems reflect the actual po-sition, irregularities having defined action plans to rectify. • Ensure stock movements/transactions are recorded accurately in a timely manner. • Support organising and participate in stock takes at regular intervals.
Continuous Improvement: • Maximizing the deployment of people, processes, materials and equipment, and ensure mitigations are in place in event of disruptions. Continually improve efficiencies and identify operational improvements • Develop the team to encourage and achieve continuous improvement methodologies in order to improve the profitability, service and efficiency of the site • Ensure systems and procedures are Fit for Purpose in order to deliver high performance
Experience & Qualifications • Proven warehousing management experience in a similar role is essential • Strong people management skills – Previous experience of managing teams and ability to priorities. • Financial / Budgetary awareness. • Management and use of MHE. • Management / Warehouse / People Management qualification would be advantageous. • Strong industry continuous improvement skills and knowledge. • Possess a dynamic leadership attitude, supporting teams as needed and work together to add value and manage challenges. • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage, motivate and coach. • HSE qualification (such as IOSH / NEBOSH) – advantageous • Experience with SAP (Or similar WMS systems) – advantageous • Experience in working in a cross-cultural environment – advantageous
