About you
Intertek Electrical are currently looking for a Test Engineer to be based in Milton Keynes. This is an important and exciting opportunity as Intertek looks to grow its engineering team to meet market requirements. The role's key purpose is to complete electrical safety evaluations for Intertek's global client base. Working within the Intertek Electrical UK team, the Test Engineer would work closely with clients to evaluate their products and documentation to ensure they meet specific requirements of the applicable test standards. The role will also involve working across all departments within UK Electrical, providing technical support to operations, sales, and marketing.
Required skills and experience:
1. Essential:
1. Relevant Electrical/Electronic formal qualifications or degree
2. Good IT Skills, experience with Excel, Word, and data retention systems
3. Experience of working in accordance with a Quality Management System
4. Attention to detail and ability to navigate/interpret ambiguity of standards
5. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other members of the team
2. Desirable:
1. Background in one of the following; product safety testing, grid code, inverters, EV charging, BESS, energy
2. Experience and knowledge in one or more electrical safety standards e.g. IEC/EN 50549//UL 1741 SA/IEEE 1547/60335/62368/60730
3. Knowledge and experience of certification schemes
4. Experience of generating test reports for customers and certification purposes.
5. Experience with data acquisition and analyzer tools, AC/DC simulators, RLC load bank and communication interfaces.
About the opportunity
Key activities:
1. Provide ongoing support and guidance on technical issues, test procedures, and standards interpretations
2. Provide quotes for projects and products
3. Research new standards, technologies, and trends in standards
4. Support accreditation activities such as audit follow-up and corrective actions
5. Manage assigned tasks within Intertek guidelines
6. Assess technical documentation and processes against standard requirements
7. Set up and operate EUT; perform and document simple repairs on EUT as needed
8. Perform testing of products in accordance with standards
9. Complete preliminary design reviews (PDR) both on and off site
10. Develop, set up, and follow established test plans
11. Provide project updates to customers, as well as management
12. Provide technical support for internal and external audits
13. Ensure evaluations are completed to standard and within set timescales
14. Attend customer calls and meetings
