Age-related Macular Degeneration Coordinator
Are you an organised, friendly and proactive individual looking for an opportunity in healthcare administration? We are seeking an Age-related Macular Degeneration Coordinator to join our friendly and supportive Outpatient Ophthalmology Team full-time at Yeovil District Hospital. This role is crucial in providing excellent administrative support and ensuring a seamless experience for patients and staff. Training and support will be given.

Main duties of the job
1. Be the main point of contact for the Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Service, having full knowledge of speciality processes or knows where to resource help or to find answers. Communicate directly with patients regarding appointment bookings, procedure details and instruction.
2. Provide effective communication between clinicians, specialist nurses, patients and managers and all internal and external contacts to achieve an excellent and smooth patient pathway.
3. Ensure clinics are covered for periods of absence to ensure turnaround times and standards are maintained, referring to Lead Nurse Specialist/Service Manager/Rota Coordinator as appropriate.
4. Re-organise outpatient clinics in the event of cancellation ensuring waiting times are not breached.
5. Have knowledge of clinic activity with a full understanding of the speciality clinic template, ensuring clinics are full to capacity with appropriate clinician/nurse availability, highlighting any shortfalls to lead nurse practitioner for advice.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good standard of general education.
* NVQ 2 or 3 in Administration or equivalent experience within an administrative role.
* IT qualification or proven experience.
Experience
* Word processing/general IT experience.
* Previous NHS administrative experience (one year).
* Awareness of ophthalmology services.
Additional Criteria
* Ability to organise own time.
* Able to cope in a busy working environment.
* Working knowledge of in-house patient database systems.
