Overview: We're currently recruiting a Quality Manager for a relatively small SME which is part of an international group. The manufacturer is based in Newport. The company is a project driven and specifications can vary greatly from one order to the next. They are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer (who wants to step to a manager position) or a Quality Manager, preferably a candidate who has experience of an engineering workshop environment. This position has a maximum salary of £42k. The Role: Implement and maintain QHSE system to achieve compliance and continued approval with ISO 9001, P.E.D. (2014/68/EU), PE(s)R, ATEX and any other applicable standards defined by leadership team Monitor, audit, and report on QHSE performance Develop, maintain, and improve the business’ Management Systems to continually develop QHSE and operating standards Manage and develop QHSE staff QMS: ISO 9001:2015 QMS compliance and maintenance Compliance and maintenance of regulatory standards P.E.D. (2014/68/EU), PE(s)R, ATEX Prompt and accurate processing of corrective actions raised from certification and regulatory body non-conformities (external audits) Ensuring product traceability as prescribed by the above QMS and product regulatory standards Liaising with process owners to ensure prompt processing of Quality Event reports for internal & supplier non-conformities and customer complaints Liaising with process owners to ensure prompt and accurate processing of corrective and improvement actions from Quality Event reports Support and liaison for customer and regulatory body audits Maintenance of internal and external audit plan Planning and execution of internal and supplier audits Prompt and accurate processing of corrective and improvement actions from internal and supplier audits Incoming parts and material are inspected in line with company QC requirements Despatched product inspected in line with company final inspection QC requirements Customer contract documentation (S.D.R.L.) processed in line with customer contractual requirements Liaison and support for Third Party Inspection product and contract inspection visits to the company Demonstrating a hands-on approach to technical aspects of QMS Coaching and encouraging colleagues in the philosophy of continuous improvement with recognised tools and techniques Managing and motivating staff against recognised, agreed, roles and responsibilities Deploy and promote a culture of lost cost and waste management to ensure business improvement is prioritised Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives across QHSE and production areas Maintain a register of continuous improvement actions Utilize lean manufacturing principles and techniques to enhance operational efficiency. (5S etc) Develop a culture of continuous improvement and innovation among employees The Person: Qualified to technical HND/HNC level or equivalent is desirable but not essential if previous work experience can demonstrate a proven track record and ability within a quality biased manufacturing environment. Ideally qualified to minimum certificate level quality assurance (Charted Quality Institute or BSI) or NVQ business improvement techniques level 2 or 3.
