Engineering Team Lead

Full time (37.5 hours per week) fixed 8-week pattern working 07.00 to 19.00 and 19.00 to 07.00 days and nights
Salary £41,500 per annum shift allowance inclusive, plus Serco Benefits
Here at Serco, we’re looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join us at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough. The Engineering Team Lead will supervise the activities of the Shift Maintenance team and plan, cost, oversee, and implement the maintenance service to the site. You will also schedule daily work activity to the team.
As the Engineering Team Lead, you will develop close working relationships with FM and Trust managers and assist in the development and training of staff. You must ensure daily workload is efficiently allocated to ensure maximum productivity from available resources and contribute to developing new systems of work.
Other duties will include developing and amending PPM activity to ensure satisfactory maintenance standards and aiding with out of hours reactive activities.
Main Accountabilities:
* To effectively supervise the activities of the Maintenance team.
* To plan, cost, oversee, and implement the maintenance service to the site.
* To develop close working relationships with FM and Trust managers.
* To assist in the development and training of staff.
* To ensure daily workload is efficiently allocated to ensure maximum productivity from available resources.
* To contribute to developing new systems of work.
* Maintain records as appropriate.
* Ensure that the Estates Service is being delivered in full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental Regulations.
* Collaborate and co-operate with the Trust, partners, and colleagues to deliver a customer-focused service.
* To support the Estates Management team in specialist engineering and building systems.
* Deployment of maintenance personnel in relation to the skill sets of the required task i.e., scheduling daily work activity.
* Undertake monitoring to ensure acceptable standards of workmanship and productivity are achieved to comply with the statutory standards.
* Develop and amend PPM activity to ensure satisfactory maintenance standards.
* Giving advice of a technical nature to trades staff.
* Participate in estates department on-call service.
* Meeting health, safety, and other statutory requirements appropriate to the role.
* Supporting the stores in the purchasing of bespoke materials and stock.
* Executing and formulating programmes of work, requiring liaison with the client.
* Investigating and dealing with breakdowns and requisition maintenance orders.
* Undertake the proprietary preparation works for the attendance of a Competent Person as required.
* To undertake training when required, specific to job role i.e., Competent/Authorised Person Appointment.
* Prepare specification for minor new works and adaptations.
* Supervising maintenance and minor capital works projects.
* Training and instruction of craftsmen and apprentices as appropriate.
* Comply with the procedures as detailed in the company’s Quality Assurance Manuals & Health & Safety Policies.
What you’ll need to do the role
* Recognised CITB apprenticeship or a demonstrated equivalent (minimum NVQ level 3)
* Electrical or Mechanical background
* City and Guilds Craft Certificate relevant to trade or similar recognised trade certificate
* Supervisory skills training
* Health & Safety qualification
