Graduate Sustainability Consultant
MES Building Solutions are looking to recruit a Graduate Sustainability Consultant to join our expanding sustainability team. This role would suit a recent graduate or someone looking for a change of career. The role is within our Sustainable Buildings team and would be reporting to the department head.
The successful applicant will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of sustainability and Building Regulations assessments in the built environment, focusing on meeting carbon emissions targets.
Initially, this will involve undertaking SAP assessments of dwellings (new-build, conversion, and extensions). With experience, progression into a wider range of work, such as energy and sustainability statements, overheating assessments, SBEM, and PassivHaus, would be expected depending on the applicant's skills/preferences.
This role is primarily based in our head office in Newark, Nottinghamshire. We do offer home and flexible working arrangements, and site/client visits may be required where necessary.
The role also requires dealing with clients, so client-facing communication skills are necessary along with a calm approach to problem-solving. We do not expect applicants to have prior experience in the built environment, and full training will be provided where necessary.
Key Tasks:
* Undertaking SAP calculations for new-build dwellings
* Inputting to and undertaking energy, CO2, and sustainability statements to accompany planning applications
* Providing clear and concise technical advice to clients
* Building & maintaining relationships with clients
* Undertaking related services, for example, ventilation testing & commissioning
Location:
* MES head office in Newark, Notts (although MES do offer home and flexible working arrangements)
* Where required, site visits nationwide.
Applicants Should:
* Be educated to GCSE or A level maths (or equivalent)
* Be educated to degree level
* Have the desire and ability to learn new technical skills
* Have good written and verbal communication skills
* Be able to work reliably without supervision
* Be willing to travel to sites when required
Ideal Experience:
* Previous experience in a customer or client-facing role
* Full and clean UK driving licence
