Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Knaresborough
Base salary: £41,000 - £45000 per annum
Core Hours: 08:30 – 17:00, Monday to Friday with an early 12 PM finish on Fridays if 4 additional hours are worked earlier in the week

Overall Purpose:
To contribute to the development, operation, and management of a total productive maintenance system compliant with regulations and international standards, covering all process equipment and facility services.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and operate the maintenance system for all process equipment, services, and facilities.
Contribute to the development of safety risk assessments and safe systems of work, conducting dynamic risk assessments when necessary for maintenance tasks, ensuring work aligns with these documents and regulatory requirements.
Complete planned maintenance activities and servicing for all process and facility equipment, either directly or by managing contractors.
Respond to breakdowns and repair equipment in the fastest, most cost-effective manner.
Maintain documentation by updating records with breakdown, repair, service, and safety inspection information in line with regulatory requirements and international standards.
Support continuous improvement activities throughout the business to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize equipment downtime.
Assist teams in resolving product quality issues by providing technical guidance and investigating equipment performance.
Design (if required), specify, and install new process equipment.
Work independently as the sole Maintenance representative for the site when required.
Qualifications/Education:
Apprentice-trained in a relevant engineering field with 5 years of practical maintenance experience
Or: Equivalent overall practical experience
Preferred: Current edition electrical qualification
Technical Experience:
Hydraulic systems
Pneumatic systems
Electrical installations and systems
Control systems (ladder diagrams/PLCs), primarily Mitsubishi on automated assembly machines.
Injection moulding machines with OEM-specific PLC controls.
Mechanical fitting
Ability to understand hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics
Ability to interpret engineering drawings
Specialist Equipment Knowledge:
Injection moulding machines and associated process equipment
Manual and CNC machine tools (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDM machines)
Automated assembly equipment
Standard facilities equipment, including heating systems, air compressors, and cooling water pumps
Other Key Attributes:
An inquisitive nature with excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently with initiative and as part of a team
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly describe technical issues
Ability to perform effectively under pressure
IT skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel
