Job Title: Passive Fire Engineer / Passive Fire Protection Consultant Location: Manchester (Hybrid potential, with regular site visits) Employment Type: Permanent Start Date: ASAP About the Role: We’re looking for a specialist to support the design and specification of remedial works following fire door and fire compartmentation surveys. The successful candidate will take responsibility for producing accurate, compliant specifications for passive fire protection measures across a diverse property portfolio. This is a key role in shaping how remedial actions are scoped and implemented, ensuring that buildings meet fire safety requirements and comply with all relevant regulations. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop specifications of work for passive fire protection remediation, including fire doors, fire-stopping, and compartmentation Translate survey findings into clear, actionable, and compliant remedial scopes Ensure all specifications meet relevant fire safety legislation and UK Building Regulations (particularly Approved Document B) Liaise with surveyors, contractors, project managers, and client stakeholders to align on expectations and deliverables Provide expert guidance on passive fire strategies and regulatory compliance Support procurement and tender processes through detailed technical documentation Requirements: Demonstrable experience in passive fire protection or fire engineering design In-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations and fire safety legislation Experience working on high-occupancy or complex buildings such as arenas, stadiums, or large public venues would be highly advantageous. Practical experience in reviewing fire surveys and developing remediation plans Strong understanding of building construction and compartmentation principles Excellent written and verbal communication skills Desirable Qualifications and Certifications: IFC Certification or similar recognised credentials for Passive Fire Protection Engineers Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., Institute of Fire Engineers, IFE) Degree or technical qualification in Fire Engineering, Building Surveying, or related field Desirable Experience: Experience working across multiple sites or within large property portfolios Previous involvement in the design or oversight of fire safety remedial works Interested?
