We’re looking for a passionate Finance Analyst - Finance Business Partner to join our Strategic Infrastructure (SI) business. You’ll join a team of Finance Business Partners who work hand in hand with Directors of National Grid’s Strategic Infrastructure business, responsible for delivering the biggest upgrade the National Grid has seen in decades. These projects will together enable 50 Gigawatts of offshore wind to deliver substantial decarbonisation of our energy system. This is a new business unit which presents an exciting opportunity to build new solutions and create new ways of working. Our team works across the SI business to ensure business leaders understand their financial performance in the context regulatory framework and the commitments we have made to our shareholders. We are accountable for ensuring the business’s plans are ambitious and deliverable. We support the business to find opportunities to embed efficiencies that drive value for shareholders and consumers, and we provide insight and challenge where we see risks to performance. Critical to success will be a high-quality forecast that finds innovative ways to report and manage material uncertainty and risk across a complex portfolio with tight deliver schedules. This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you What You'll Do You will develop relationships with members of the business management team and Finance Business Partners to identify opportunities to drive business performance through the provision of financial insight. Working with your fellow Finance Business Partner colleagues you’ll help to embed a greater financial performance culture within the organisation, assessing today’s processes to identify weaknesses and implementing solutions that balance the needs of finance and business stakeholders. You will be recognised as a critical trusted partner for the business utilising your financial expertise and project knowledge to provide support to the wider business. You will ensure that investment decisions are made with the right financial rigor – so that the accounting and the regulatory impact of spend is understood at the point of sanction, and the business are clear about how the investment will impact their financial targets. You will get involved in ad-hoc projects to help build the financial and operational infrastructure required to deliver a transformative infrastructure program at a national scale. Support the delivery of key business projects through the development of business cases, assessing and monitoring risk, and looking across the portfolio of projects to identify, profile and track opportunities and risks to support successful project delivery. Provide a commercial understanding of how contracts work and to utilise contract management skills to assist the National Grid business in implementing and managing the delivery of value from its supply chain partners. You will develop an understanding of the business context associated with value opportunities and initiatives and to translate financial and non-financial information into financial business cases. You will proactively build own knowledge of RIIO and its impact on the industry and the business in order to support key decisions and advise and guide own business area. What You'll Have A Qualified Accountant with post qualification experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc). You have experience in a business partner level and are comfortable balancing support for the business to help it to focus on what really matters for financial performance with having challenging conversations when you see the need for decision and action to deliver that performance.
