Job overview
This post is a replacement position primarily based at Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children, located on the St. Helier site. However, cross-site working may be required. The post holder will help deliver Community Paediatric services for the London Boroughs of Merton and Sutton.
We are eager to support a suitable candidate to develop an area of interest that supplements the work of the department, and this post requires the candidate to provide a Designate role. There are no on-call commitments unless desired.
We currently offer a wide range of services, including diagnosis and management of Developmental Problems, e.g., Global Developmental Delay and Autism assessment in the under 5s, Motor Coordination Disorder, Neurodevelopmental disorders, and Neuro-disability along with SEN and CLA clinics.
The post holder will join a team of 4.85 Consultants and 1 Associate Specialist with community roles, supported by 2 locum consultants. There are also 3 RCPCH Specialist Trainees rotating to Community Paediatrics (6-month posts) and a Clinical Nurse Specialist for epilepsy, along with 1 Specialist Nurse in SEN, as part of the Community Nursing team at Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children.
Main duties of the job
The post includes:
1. Designate doctor role for CLA and medical adviser role for Adoption and fostering for the London Borough of Merton.
2. Neurodevelopment clinic, including:
* Assessment of social communication problems, including ASD in the under 5s.
* Management of children with complex needs that impact daily living activities and education.
1. Support the department as required in:
* Educational paediatrics, including preparing reports for EHCNA.
* Medicals for looked after children.
2. Support the department as required with triaging and supervision of Neurodevelopment nurse.
